Florists cut and arrange live, dried and silk flowers and greenery to make decorative displays.

Florists arrange bouquets, create wreaths and terrariums, and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape and foam. Florists help customers select flowers, keep financial records, answer telephones, sell giftware items and receive payments.

The WorldSkills Australia Floristry Competition will see Competitors design and create floral items to set briefs. They will perform a number of floristry skills including designing, post-harvest care and conditioning knowledge of horticultural materials. Competitors will also be required to demonstrate an understanding of the elements and principals of floral design as well as the application of various key floristry techniques.
