A Fitter and Machinist sets up and operates precision metal cutting and grinding machines to fabricate and repair parts and products made from metals, plastics, rubber textiles, fibreglass and space age alloys.

The WorldSkills Australia Fitting Competition tests skills and knowledge required to perform a range of skills for those working in the Fitting and Machining trade. The work is in a defined range of skilled operations, which require the use of hand tools and general machinery.
