Automotive Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and electronic components in motor vehicles.
The scope of work for an Automotive Electrician is extremely diverse, including work on road-going cars and trucks, but also recreational vehicles, 4wd, golf carts, fork lifts, elevated work platforms, mining equipment, agricultural equipment, earthmoving and plant equipment, and also fixed battery/solar applications in remote locations. Auto electricians may work as an individual or as a member of a team in various conditions – inside, outside and on the move.
The WorldSkills Australia Auto Electrical Competition requires the competitor to perform tasks that reflects the role of individuals who service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components in vehicles in the automotive electrical service and repair industry.
